A fundamental aspect of this design is the manner in which the audience is isolated from everydayreality to allow their journey into inner-consciousness. This need for isolation often results in a dense, opaque, and heavy mass which in exterior form is contrary to the nature of the journey itself. Designing the theater as a bridge, however, gives the audience the necessary isolation in the form of freedom, not constriction. The bridge not only takes advantage of the structural properties of wood, but more, expands on the nature of wood as a living, growing material to express the evolution of the audience. Designing the theater to embody the essence of drama makes the architecture both the starting point and an integral part of the experience.
